Communists criticise W. Bengal government agreement with Gorkha Morcha

Kolkata, June 10 (ANI): In backdrop of the agreement of West Bengal government with Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM), Communist leader Biman Bose expressed his displeasure, saying it may finally lead to the bifurcation of the state.
Talking to reporters here on Thursday, Bose said: "The problem which was unsolved for 21 years, has been resolved in a little time.
They (GJM) are saying after returning to the hills that this is a foundation of Gorkhaland, we have constructed the foundation now the structural development has to be done. This is a signal of bifurcation of Bengal."
"What is the agreement about? What is the road map, what will the boundaries of the new set-up be, none but they (the signatories to the agreement) know," he added
After the state government agreed to sign an agreement with GJM on the long pending issue of separate Gorkhaland state, Chief Mamata Banerjee made the announcement that the decades-long Darjeeling issue had finally been resolved.
A renewed demand for a separate Gorkhaland region, which would include Darjeeling and some contiguous areas of Jalpaiguri District, has created fresh turmoil over the past few months.
The Gorkha population in West Bengal is estimated to be around a million. (ANI)
