Kolkata, Jul 23 : The Adivasi Vikas Parishad (AVP) today maintained that there was no 'confusion' about the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) in the hills.
AVP state president Birsa Tirke, who led a delegation to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at Writers' Buildings, said '' We are satisfied with our discussions and there is no confusion regarding the GTA.'' The delegation also had a separate meeting with North Bengal Development Minister Gautam Deb.
'' We were unaware of the GTA in totality, but now our queries regarding it have been resolved and we are satisfied,'' Mr Tirke said.
The AVP was advocating for inclusion of Terai and Dooars under the GTA.
It had observed a strike in the hills on July 16 protesting signing of the tripartite agreement among the Centre, the state government and the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM).
Incidentally, the state government had appointed a committee to look into the demand of inclusion of Terai and Dooars under the GTA that would submit its reports within six months.
