Tripartite agreement on Darjeeling soon
Kolkata, Jul 14 (PTI): The Centre is in favour of signing the tripartite agreement to resolve the Darjeeling problem but is yet to communicate the date of the meeting, the West Bengal government today said."The Centre is very much in favour of signing the agreement although it is yet to communicate the date of the meeting," Chief Secretary Samar Ghose told reporters here.Hoping that the meeting would be held soon, he said that the draft agreement had been sent to Delhi and the Centre had agreed on all points except three or four minor ones on which there was some reservation."The state government is now talking to Gorkha Janmukti Morcha on these points," he said.The draft of the tripartite agreement was finalised on July 9 at a meeting between the state government and the GJM leaders at the Writers' Buildings here.The draft memorandum of agreement was sent to the Centre for approval.On recruitment of 10,000 youths from junglemahal in the police and allied services, he said that the process for this would begin tomorrow at the official level..
