Siliguri, Sep 20 : Army today airdropped some 2010 packets to earthquake ravaged Sikkim and about 4000 such packets are being ready to be dropped tomorrow, official sources monitoring the relief and rescue operations here said.
They said the packet containing with chira (flat rise), gur, noodles, medical kit and other essentials for quake victims people in the Himalayan state of Sikkim.
Meanwhile, with recovery of a body in Darjeeling the death toll in three districts of north Bengal rose to 12, according to Divisional Commissiner, Jalpaiguri, A K Singh.
However, the unofficial toll was 13 as the authorities were still undecided about a casualty in Siliguri saying it was a cardiac failure and not related to earthquake.
The body of Binay Rai was recovered was a drain in Darjeelng today.
Meanwhile, according an official estimate over Rs 3445 crore peoperty was lost in Darjeeling district in Sunday's 6.9 magnitude earthquake.
Darjeeling district magistrate Dr Soumitra Mohan told reporters that the initial estimated loss of property was above Rs 3445 crore.
