Sikkim/Gangtok: Nov 25: The contingent of Sikkim paragliding pilots of Sikkim Paragliding Adventure Sports Cooperative Society Ltd comprising of seven pilots including two women pilots left for Mizoram on November 25, 2011 to participate in the 1st Mizoram Paragliding Festival & Accuracy Spot Landing competition -2011 starting from 28th-30tNov 2011, organized by Mizoram Tourism Department & 3Dimension Adventures, informed a press release.It is to be noted that Sikkim Paragliding Adventure Sports Cooperative Society had been approached by representatives from Mizoram after they came to know that the Society was successful in establishing Paragliding sport in an organized & quality way in Sikkim, for the technical and administrative assistance to establish this sport in their state also.The society president Arjun Kr Rai (vice president: Paragliding Association of India ,north zone) & pilot Tashi Lachungpa had gone to Mizoram on Feb.-March 2011 for the purpose of extending assistance there, and finally the trip has born fruits in the form of this Championship. Arjun Rai has been appointed the meet director for the championship, and talking to him over the phone he said beside Sikkim contingent, teams from bir/billing , Pokhara and pilots from Indian army are participating in the event.Among north east state Mizoram government is taking much interest after seeing the success of Sikkim Government?s endeavor to establish this sport in Sikkim state.
