WBCSSC non-teaching staff recruitment examination results announced

KOLKATA, 15 DEC: The result of the non-teaching staff recruitment examination of the West Bengal Central School Service Commission (WBCSSC) was delayed for almost a year because the new board had to re-examine all the papers once checked by the previous board.  
Mr Chittaranjan Mondal, chairman of WBCSSC, said this today while declaring the results. The written examination was held on 9 January, 2011 before the Assembly election. After the Trinamul Congress came to power, Mr Mondal was made the new chairman replacing Prof. Ranajit Basu. Mr Mondal said: “Before I joined, all the papers were evaluated. We took a random sampling and found 20 per cent of the evaluation faulty. There were instances of under marking, over marking along with other human errors. So we thought of re-examining all the papers.”  
The commission had to recheck about several thousand papers resulting in the delay. According to sources, the model answer sheet given to evaluators, was objective in nature and was inadequate for proper evaluation. Following this, the commission has decided to introduce multi-checking scrutiny system from next time. It is also planning to restrict the number of the papers that a scrutiniser checks on a daily basis so that mistakes are minimised. This is the first time the commission is recruiting non-teaching staff. The chairman said the advertisement for the recruitment of the assistant teachers will be issued this month.
