GUWAHATI: The Northeast Frontier Railway exhibition pavilion at Uttarbanga Utsav is drawing attention of many rail enthusiasts. The exhibits drawing the maximum interest include a running model of a toy train with automatic level crossings, gates and signals, the famous Darjeeling Himalayan Railway toy train going around Batasia Loop in Ghoom, working model of bridge pile driving, axle counters and many others.
In addition, information regarding train services and concessions allowed to various categories of passengers have been put up for benefit of passengers.
According to S Hajong, chief public relations officer of NF Railway, , the theme of level crossing safety can be seen at the entrance point.
Through this display, NF Railway has attempted to alert road users to be careful while crossing unmanned level crossings.
At the exit point, a display on cleanliness of railway premises as well as inside the train can be seen.
A brief history of NF Railway has also been displayed along with its achievements. One can know the details history of Darjeeling Himalayan Railway and its appreciation as a "World Heritage Site" status.
Darjeeling Himalayan Railway was declared as "World Heritage" site by Unesco in 1999. The Utsav - celebrated across North Bengal at places like Siliguri, Jalpaiguri, Falakata, Chalsa, Malbazar - started on February 10 and is scheduled to run till February 16.
