Siliguri, Feb. 15.TT: The Siliguri Municipal Corporation and the Durgapur-based Mission Hospital group have agreed to set up a 200-bed super speciality hospital on land owned by the civic body.
Mayor Gangotri Datta said the agreement would be signed in the next couple of days after the Mission group sent back the draft that was drawn up today.
The hospital, according to Mission group chairperson Satyajit Bose, will have at least 200 doctors and 200-400 nursing staff for speciality care in cardiology, nephrology and angioplasty.
There will also be facilities for critical care, replacement of hip and knee and cosmetic surgeries.
“After discussing the project elaborately, we drafted an agreement. They will send the final copy in two-three days. Those would be signed then, followed by the lease agreement and handing over of land by next month,” she said. After the Pujas, the SMC had invited expression of interest for a hospital to be set up on the land provided by the civic body.
“The Mission group responded and expressed interest in establishing the proposed hospital in association with us,” said Datta.
According to Mission Hospital and SMC sources, the Rs 125 crore facility will come up on a two-acre plot.
“Once the final agreement is signed and we are given possession of the land, the hospital will be completed in two years. It will be a G-plus-six building and initially we will start with 200 beds,” Bose said.
“We have plans to carry out heart surgery for children below 15 years against Rs 30,000, instead of the usual rates of Rs 1 lakh and above. We will also reduce the treatment rates for SMC employees, people from BPL categories and persons with recommendations from legislators and other special categories.”
He said the Mission group’s 250-bed hospital in Durgapur is on a three-acre plot and has 10 storeys.
“The proposed hospital here will be having at least 200 doctors, all full-timers, with 300-400 nursing staff. We will see that they all stay near the hospital,” said Bose.
