Kalimpong|Mukesh Sharma: The Kalimpong MLA, Dr Harka Bahadur Chettri today speaking on the all India strike against the hike in petrol prices stated that Bandhs are not the solution to every problem. “Will the Bandh in the hills lower the petrol prices?” Chettri questioned. The GJM does not support any kinds of Bandhs which puts the public in problem, he asserted.
Further, pin pointing the media, MLA Chettri complained that they only highlight the hike in petrol prices and inflation happening in metropolitan cities; they should instead visit small towns and see through the problems of the people living there.
Likewise, commenting on the same, the Communist Party of Revolutionary Marxist (CPRM) politician, Tara Sundas said that price hike for every commodity occurs 6- 7 times a month. “The CPRM totally supports the Bandh”, he stated. The public should once think for themselves and should not conduct Bandhs in any person’s saying. Speaking on the MLA’s statement regarding the Bandh, Sundas said that this is a matter of political awareness. Whatever laws are made in New Delhi, the same is applied in Darjeeling District too as it is an important part of India, hence saying that we have no concern regarding this is a joke on politics, he added. For this the public should be politically well aware, he concluded.
