Kalimpong|Mukesh Sharma: The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) thoroughly celebrated their historic win during the declaration of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) results today.Dewan after his close win stated that the public have given justice to the GJM Chief, Bimal Gurung’s dedication. “The President believed that the GJM would win all the 45 seats,” he stated. When asked about his win against independent candidate Sanchabir Subba, Dewan said, “I am a man who does not bow down to challenges. Winning and losing is a part of life, and I believe those who have the guts to face challenges, they definitely win.” Gratified with the public for their votes, Dewan thanked them and also assured that he will be doing everything possible to fulfill all their demands and look into the public’s issues. “I will be now visiting whole of the Constituency and will try and understand the problems of the public from the grass root level. The developmental works shall follow under the GTA according to the direction of the GJM Chief,” he added.Likewise, the winner from the 42 no Relli- Samthar Constituency, Dr RB Bhujel stated, “This is not my individual win instead it is the win of the GJM Chief and the public as a whole. Our next aim is to include the Terai- Dooars region under GTA and the demand of Gorkhaland shall always prevail,” he mentioned.The 43 no Gorubathan Constituency GJM winner, Chandra Yonzon said that his Constituency is one of the remotest areas of Kalimpong and the people living here are facing numerous issues. “It won’t hear correct to say that there were no funds during the Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council (DGHC), the funds were there, but there was no proper system to utilize the funds, hence the hills could never develop. The money meant for the public was never used for them. But under GTA this won’t happen, the funds shall be used wisely and properly. My main focus will be on provision of transportation and electricity,” he assured.Furthermore, the 44 no Samsing- Kumai Constituency winner, Samuel Gurung also spoke about overall development. “My main focus would be the health of the Tea Garden workers and education,” he said. The 45 no Rangu- Todey- Jaldhaka Constituency winner, Lopsang Lama speaking about his Constituency said that still after 68 years of independence and so much of development around us, the Constituency still remains under developed. There no road connectivity and proper electricity supply. “I will do everything for the overall development of this Constituency,” he assured.
Similarly, the 33 no Chibo- Tashiding Constituency winner, Kazim Bhutia, Nima Tamang from 34 no Bhalukhop- Homes, Sunil Pradhan from 35 no Bong- Durpin Constituency, Kalpana Tamang from 37 no Algarah- Dalapchand Constituency, CP Sharma from 38 no Lingsey- Lava Constituency, Gopal Ruchal from 39 no Rangpo- Mungsong Constituency and Dawa Lepcha from 40 no Pedong Constituency also spoke about bringing overall developments in their respective Constituencies and the hills as a whole
