Lepcha’s Secrets Book of the wild medicinal plants released

Mukesh Sharma: ‘Mondok’, a book based on the secrets of the wild medicinal plants of the Lepcha’s written by Rev Nirwan Amos Subba, was released today at the KKYS hall situated at 12thDhura. Pastor Salon Karthak presided over as the chief guest while, Rev Samuel Lepcha, Elder Samchyo Lepcha and other were also present.Those who read the book acclaims, that it is one of the best books written on wild medicinal plants. The book speaks about the methods used by the Lepchas in preparing medicines out of wild plants and its usage for different ailments. Rev Subba has compiled the book by consulting the Lepcha community residing in Sikkim, Darjeeling, Nepal and Bhutan.Informing about the book, Elder Samchyo Lepcha said that the book describes the way the medicines are prepared and it also enlists the names of 101 medicines prepared from various wild plants. It further, details on how the plants should be recognized and plucked.
