A meeting of the Truck Owners Associations of Siliguri, Darjeeling hills and Sikkim was held today at Teesta Bazaar discussing the diesel price hike and truck overload. The meeting also decided to ask the Administration to take strict actions against overloaded trucks.Though after the notification issued by the Government, regarding the increase of transport rate, there has been no increment. Hence, it was decided that the Association should insist the Government more in this regard. If the Government does not take notice of these demands, then agitation shall be initiated. During the meet, Harpreet Singh and Piyush Pal from Kanchendzonga Truck Owner Association, Siliguri, Madan Chettri, President of Darjeeling Truck Owner Association and Dhanraj Philomine, President of Sikkim Truck Owner Association and other members were present.
