At this time where the public is dissatisfied with the Teesta Hydro Power Project (HPP), Sabhasad, Dr RB Bhujel conducted a survey of the area. After visiting the project site under NHPC Stage III, Dr Bhujel said the effect of the dam can be seen and thus other schemes and steps will be taken only after proper deliberation in the future. Nothing will happen by raising voice here as similar projects are taking place all over the country, he added.
The dam which earlier was said to be a low dam is now not only affecting the project site but is also hampering the environment.
As per Dr Bhujel the said project is by the Central. The Forest Department being under the Centre works only after a NOC being issued by the state.
He also highlighted that high tension lines all over has become a matter of concern. Saying that the dam has already affected the connected areas, Dr Bhujel added that after the works of producing electricity starts then more affect will be seen.
He assured that all the affected families will be receiving compensation. He also insisted that the NHPC should make up to those affected families who reside near the dam.
