Cinchona unit thank Gurung for re-establishing Cinchona factory

A meeting of the Cinchona unit central committee under the Darjeeling Terai- Dooars Plantation Labour Union was held at the Morcha office today. 

The meeting discussed about the recruitment of Group D employees at the Cinchona estate, their promotions and to regulate new rules. The Union’s Secretary, Gagan Rai speaking to the reporters after the meeting said that the rules laid by the Cinchona Directorate will be amended by the Union and will be forwarded to the Directorate after which a resolution for the new set of rules will be passed by the GTA Sabha. Rai said that since long the Group D employees have not been promoted.Union’s President, Gopal Ruchal expressed gratitude to the GTA for reconstruction of the Cinchona factory at Mungpoo. He said that they had many times appealed the state government and the chief minister for the same, but finally the work was done by the GTA. “Only after 8 months of the GTA formation, the GTA executive chief Bimal Gurung has been able to bring back the Cinchona industry to life. The labourers are happy”, he said.
