DARJEELING, 15 MAY: Miss Mamata Banerjee, today said Darjeeling had
become ‘too congested’ while stressing on promoting more spots dotted
along the Hills for tourism. She also said many sites like Sandakphu
should be newly developed to attract domestic and foreign tourists.
“Takdah, Ghoom-Jorebunglow, Kurseong and Kalimpong have huge tourism
potential,” she added. She announced that Rs 155 crore would be provided
to complete the new drinking water project in Darjeeling and another Rs
304 crore for a similar one for Kalimpong. sns
