NEW DELHI/KALIMPONG: The Centre has offered tripartite talks with
the Gorkhaland Joint Action Committee (GJAC), agitating for a separate
state of Gorkhaland, to discuss their statehood demand and requested
them to suspend their indefinite stir in parts of West Bengal's
Darjeeling district.
Union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde,
who met a delegation of Gorkha leaders led by BJP MP from Darjeeling
Jaswant Singh on Tuesday, assured them that Union home secretary Anil
Goswami would soon convene a meeting with the chief secretary of West
Bengal and GJAC leaders to discuss their Gorkhaland demand.
