Delhi calls for talks on Gorkhaland, setback for Mamata

Union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde NEW DELHI/KALIMPONG: The Centre has offered tripartite talks with the Gorkhaland Joint Action Committee (GJAC), agitating for a separate state of Gorkhaland, to discuss their statehood demand and requested them to suspend their indefinite stir in parts of West Bengal's Darjeeling district.
Union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde, who met a delegation of Gorkha leaders led by BJP MP from Darjeeling Jaswant Singh on Tuesday, assured them that Union home secretary Anil Goswami would soon convene a meeting with the chief secretary of West Bengal and GJAC leaders to discuss their Gorkhaland demand.
