LDC sets up temporary office in Town Hall
Kalimpong,Pradip Lohagun: Work on setting up the office of the newly-formed Lepcha Development Council began today with a temporary office coming up at the Kalimpong Town Hall premises. LDC representatives from the Writers’ Building also set up a separate office in the same area to coordinate with the council.
The upper rooms of the town hall, which used to function as the offices of the state information and cultural department, will serve as the LDC’s temporary office. The permanent office of the LDC is expected to come up near Morgan House in Durpin on a plot spanning 20 decimals. The land belongs to the state tourism department and talks to hand it over to the LDC are ongoing.
The month-old LDC has ILTA president L Tamsang as its chairman and Yusuf Simik his deputy. The LDC board also includes IAS officer Giden Namchu as the government representative and leader of the board members.
