The
Communist Party of Revolutionary Marxist today urged the state
government to honour Article 29 of the GTA Act and accordingly dismiss
all cases filed against Gorkha Janmukti Morcha supporters during the
agitation period.
CPRM spokesperson Govind Chettri however, refrained from commenting on the fast unto death agitation announced by newly appointed GTA chief executive Binay Tamang. He said the hunger strike idea is good but Tamang must state the reasons for his decision.
Chettri further questioned the silence being maintained by signatories to the GTA pact on the issue of releasing those arrested saying those heading the agitation are now back in the GTA. He urged the state government to immediately absolve all pending cases and release the GJM activists.
The CPRM spokesperson also said new cases filed against those arrested are all “artificial” as the state government only had one target – that of suppressing the movement for statehood. (EOIC)
