Gangtok, 10 October
AIGL general secretary, Pratap Khati, who keeps calling in question the loyalty of the GJMM president, Bimal Gurung for the cause of Gorkhaland today said the tripartite meeting slated in Delhi for 23 October would be in essence a review meeting involving the GTA. “The meeting being hyped by the GJMM by way of an achievement would not move the statehood issue even by an inch,” he said while talking to reporters in Gangtok today.
“The people of the Hills under Bengal have nothing to look forward to as far as the century-long demand for a state is concerned. We are sure the talks would prove to be a damp squib with respect to the paramount cause of the Hills,” the AIGL leader said.
Reiterating his party’s support to the noted academic Mr Mahendra P Lama, he said that he is the true champion of the cause of Gorkhaland.
“Till now we have had a leader who, a charlatan, has corrupted the Hills,” he added.(SNS)
