Gurung appears before Kalimpong court

Although the GTA agreement has provisions for dismissing charges on Gorkha Janmukti Morcha leaders related to the statehood agitation period, the state government has refrained from releasing those in custody, while the charges against GJM chief Bimal Gurung have also not been dismissed.
The party chief today presented himself before Kalimpong court for two charges he is accused of. Gurung has been booked under Sections 143/141/186/243/506 under NH31A Case No. 22/11 and NH31A 8B. He has also been charged under Sections 143/341/186/283/RW 8B NH31A by the Kalimpong police. According to defence lawyer Rajiv Parajuli, the GJM chief was present for the hearing of the two cases. He added the court has set December 10 as the next date for hearing.(EOIC)
