The J. K. Tyre Himalayan Drive-2, the only T.S.D (time, speed and distance) rally in the region is scheduled to be flagged off from Siligiuri on January 29. The rally is being organised by Just Sportz Management Pvt. Ltd and the key sponsors for the event are J. K. Tyre & Industries Limited and the Department of Tourism, Government of West Bengal. The announcement was made by Just Sportz Management today at a press conference in Siliguri.
The rally is set to cover Eastern Himalayan regions of Sikkim, West Bengal and the Darjeeling Hills in a span of three days (January 29 – January 31). The first leg of the rally will run between Siliguri and Lataguri. The second leg commences from Lataguri and ends in Gangtok, while the third leg will run from Gangtok to Darjeeling. The final leg will be the climb-down to Siliguri from Dajeeling.
The First J. K. Tyre Himalayan Drive held between March 22 and 24, 2013, was a huge success and was also the first ever motorsport event organized in the Eastern Himalayan Region.
According to Just Sportz Director, Tamal Ghosal, “The first J. K. Tyre Himalayan Drive had unlocked the great prospect of adventure sports in the Eastern Himalayas. We are certain that J. K. Tyre Himalayan Drive- 2 will take it up further in encouraging adventure sports, especially motorsports in the region.”(EOI)
