Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) declares NDA ally

Bimal Gurung handshaking with Narendra Modi
New Delhi: Gaining in confidence after thumping BJP win across the country and invited to attend the NDA meeting, the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM), a force reckoning creation of Gorkhaland as the 30th state in the country, declared the hill party to be an ally of the NDA – an alliance where BJP is the commander. The proceedings whatsoever being followed closely by the Bengal conqueror winning 34 out of the 42 seats in the parliamentary polls vis- a vis the Mamata Banerjee lead Trinamool Congress(TMC) is certainly expected to make the lady in white furious while the relationship between the two touted lead-ers in Bengal politics Bimal Gurung and Mamata Bannerjee could push further on souring taste. “The GJM is an alliance of the BJP and NDA,” Gurung immediately wrote in a facebook post after attending the NDA meet to declare Narendra Modi as the next Prime Minister. “As I shared the stage with the NDA leaders, several chief ministers and senior BJP dignitaries, Rajnath Singh the president of the BJP announced GJM as an ally of the NDA,” Gurung further wrote. Whether the BJP will inactual create Gorkhaland howsoever remains bleak at the moment but the development has also brought to light the fact the state ruling par-ty Trinamool Congress despite winning 34 seats has lost to the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) in the state as far as getting a role to play in the next government in Delhi. The TMC was a force that was impediment during the UPA 2 government at the centre. However, for Gurung although unexpressed, wheth-er Mamata is impediment or
not so far has not mattered. “The GJM delegation will camp in the national capital until the oath taking ceremony. Meanwhile our delegation will meet the prominent NDA leaders including Narendra Modiji and apprise them on Gorkhaland,” said Gurung. The Trinamool Congress is hellbent opposing the division of the state and to add to the chorus it is also the state BJP which is in strong opposition of Gorkhaland. However, the Gorkha party is now banking on the absolute majority at the centre of BJP which are in favour of creation of smaller states. The Morcha interestingly is also banking on the procedure followed for creation of
Telangana by the UPA2 government where it did not take the consent of the Andhra Pradesh government and its leaders. Gurung has repeatedly raised question as to why Gorkhaland cannot be created when Telangana could be.
