Mukesh Sharma: Darjeeling-Dooars United Development Foundation (DDUDF) has sent a 11 point demand to the office of Hon,ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The letter was submitted on by DDUDF within 15 days of Modi assuming the high and Coveted office told Dr Mahendra P Lama informed today in a press meet held at Kalimpong today.The foundation has written to PM that his punching line in his last address at Khaprail on 10th April that " Dream of Gorkhas are my Dream" has become a catchword and a house hold slogan in this region.
Lama informed that the 11 point demand primarily falls within the ambit of the comprehensive 25 point charter of issues that are in the core DDUDF objective and mandate.It has also requested the newly elected MP form this region to sincerely and steadfastly raise the issues in the parliament and bring permanent solutions toward fulfilling of 11 point demand which include bestowing 30th Statehood status to this region by granting a separate state within the constitution if India by incorporating Darjeeling District, Dooars region of Jalpaiguri District and Chopra and Islampur from North Dinajpur District.Apart from this the foundation has demanded constitution of high level commission by the Government to give a durable settlement to the issue of political and Constitutional identity to the Indian Gorkhas, Restoration of Three tier panchayat , inclusion of Darjeeling District and Dooars in the North Eastern Council;Re opening of the Jelap la trade route between kalimpong and Tibet.

Dr Lama said that beside these demand the foundation would closely monitored as to what has been done to these critical issue.He inform that the organisation will sit every six month to discuss and deliberate in these issues and progress made therein by MP.Apart the foundation will place a full review report in public and closely monitor the use direction content and impact of the funds received under the MPLAD fund. We shall submit a yearly Review Report on the use of MPLAD Fund told Lama.
