State govt’s Kanya Shree project for girl students highlighted: The
state government’s Kanya Shree project for girl students was today
highlighted by the Kalimpong sub-division’s information and cultural
department by way of a drama titled ‘Chhori’ (Daughter) at Jubilee High
School. The script was written and directed by Bikram Parajuli under the
banner of Bishishta Pictures.
The project is aimed at promoting the
education of the girl child, especially those from financially weak
backgrounds with an annual income of less than Rs1.20 lakh. Under the
project, girl students studying in Class 8 and above are handed out
Rs500 annually, while those who have crossed the age of 18 are given Rs
25,000.(EOIC)
