Dimapur, July 12 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya has extended greetings to the Gorkha community of Nagaland on the occasion of Bhanu Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Gorkha poet late Bhanu Bhakta Acharya.
In a message, the Governor said Bhanu Jayanti is celebrated with gaiety and happiness as a symbol of valuable knowledge and unity. He said Bhanu Bhakta Acharya, who was born in Nepal in 1884, made Nepali language a common tongue to almost 61 Gorkha tribes before the Nepal monarch Prithivi Narayan Shaha had declared the Gorkha language, now Nepali, as a National and Palace language.

Governor Acharya stated that Bhanu Jayanti must be celebrated as the
festival of learning and every individual should take an inspiration
from the great poet. He also called on the Gorkha community to continue
safeguarding and promoting their rich culture and traditions and to come
together and rededicate oneself to make the atmosphere conducive in our
towns and villages for peaceful co-existence and all round development
in the State.
Governor prayed that this auspicious occasion bring peace, prosperity
and progress and strengthen fellowship among the people of the state.
