Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima (GPPK) in association with all Gorkha
NGOs and clubs of Kohima organised a gratitude programme in honour of
Governor of Nagaland, P B Acharya and his wife at GPPK hall Chandmari
Kohima on June 26.
A press release from GPPK press and publicity secretary, Anup Rana
stated that, Governor in his address, reaffirmed that unity in diversity
was the peculiarity of India. He lauded the Gorkha community for the
different services rendered to the state while also urging them to
cohesively work for unity.
Expressing that education is the only mantra for any society to grow,
he opined that the education system gave knowledge but in attaining
knowledge people have become self-centred. He therefore said educated
people should give back to the society. Governor also called upon the
people to take forward own mother tongue as it was one’s identity while
English was only a medium to attain education.
Accompanied by his wife Kavita Acharya, the governor also lit the
lamp while Vivela Club presented the welcome song. GPPK president Santu
Thapa delivered the words of gratitude for extending support to the
Gorkha communities in Kohima during his stay as the constitutional head
of Nagaland. GPPK treasurer Y B Rana chaired the programme while Merman
Pradhan tendered vote of thanks.
