The Sikkim Department of Education and
the Department of Education, Government of NCT Delhi on Saturday signed
an MoU at Delhi to carry out programmes under the ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha
Bharat’ being initiated by the Union government.
A press release informs that the MoU was
signed by GP Upadhyaya, additional chief secretary, Sikkim and Sandeep
Kumar, principal secretary (Education), NCT Delhi.
As per the ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’
programme, totally different States are paired up with other States.
Sikkim has been paired up with Delhi for the year 2019-20 for this
programme, the press release mentions.
The two governments have agreed on many
broad points as well as showcasing the wealthy heritage and culture,
customs and traditions of either State for sanctioning individuals to
grasp and appreciate the range that’s India, therefore fostering a way
of common identity.
Sikkim and Delhi conjointly united to
form an environment that promotes learning between the two regions by
sharing best practices and experiences. Student and teacher exchange
programmes, sharing of best practices in governance within the field of
health care, education, sanitation, tourism, Panchayati Raj, and use of
technology and organising essay competition and online quizzes on ‘Ek
Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ State-specific themes area unit the activities
to be undertaken.
The other activities mentioned are
sponsoring literature translation and literature visits, dance and
cultural festivals, and organising mountaineering/ trekking and
encampment expedition for college students of the States to their paired
States are to be done till June 2020.
