Kashmir Se Darjeeling Tak - Corona Warriors spread cheer with noble deeds
There is no doubt about the fact that the world is in a rather deplorable state due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. The number of confirmed cases in several countries, including India, is on a rise. People are scared. Anxious. Stressed. Most importantly, everybody is waiting to see light at the end of the tunnel. But, before we begin, we'd like to remind you that we are in this together and will sail through with flying colours soon.
What's commendable is that even during this distressing period, India has left no stone unturned in spreading cheer. Several Good Samaritans and noble organisations across the country are helping citizens in need and doing their bit to ensure that not even a single soul is forced to feel alone while battling the global pandemic.
For example, a bookstore in Kashmir has donated 1,000 books to multiple quarantine centres in the Valley while Glenary's, a renowned bakery in Darjeeling, distributed bread to several shelter homes and daily wage labourers. There are more such people across India and we curated a list so as to illustrate their humble effort in making the current scenario slightly bearable at the very least.

Darjeeling's iconic bakery Glenary's distributed bread to several shelter homes and daily wage workers on Tuesday. In their post on Facebook, Glenary's mentioned that it will "continue to help and support communities". Besides, on March 23, Glenary's provided people with savouries free of cost till their stocks last. "Everything is free. We will not be charging for anything. This is our small effort to help our community. Keep a safe distance when you come to the bakery," it said.

KASHMIR KEEPS STUDENTS HOOKED TO BOOKS
Around 1,000 books were donated to several quarantine centres in Kashmir by a bookstore in the Valley. The books have been given to the Jammu and Kashmir administration for students, who returned from novel coronavirus-affected countries lately and are in quarantine at the moment. Non-fiction, fiction as well as books on religion and politics were included in the collection that was presented to the students.
PATNA MAN DISTRIBUTES HAND SANITISERS
A Patna resident garnered a whole lot of love online after he distributed hand sanitisers to police officers on Janata Curfew day. Police personnel are essential workers and need to step out of their homes to attend to their call of duty. Thus, are much more vulnerable to Covid-19. "The entire country is fighting against Coronavirus. This is my way to fight it," Rakesh Chaudhary was quoted as saying by news agency ANI. The World Health Organization has strictly advised people to wash hands with soap or sanitise with alcohol handrub at frequent intervals to prevent transmission of the novel coronavirus.
SOCIAL ORGANISATIONS IN MAHARASHTRA JOIN THE DRILL
Several social organisations and NGOs took up the responsibility of providing food to daily wage labourers and the homeless in Maharashtra after the lockdown. News agency PTI reported that Sikh community members organised langar at a gurudwara in Mumbai. Food packets were also distributed by NGOs to the poor and destitute in Kalyan and Dombivali on Monday.

Residents of Safdarjung Enclave in Delhi served tea to cleaners on the street and police officials during the lockdown as shops around the national capital are shut. Karan Nagi and Arushi Mongia travelled from Safdarjung to other areas such as RK Puram and Moti Bagh and helped essential workers with their noble act.

A video of Punjab Police officials buying vegetables from a vendor and distributing it to residents of the state was shared on Twitter by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh. Officers purchased onions, cauliflower, tomatoes and other vegetables, and dispensed the vegetables to people. "Well done," Amarinder Singh said in the caption of the post.
Such Coronavirus Warriors, indeed, deserve a big round of applause for lifting the spirit of those at the forefront of the Covid-19 epidemic.
The novel coronavirus outbreak has brought the world to a grinding halt. In India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi imposed a 21-day national lockdown starting March 25 to contain the global pandemic. The country has recorded over 500 confirmed cases so far. 11 people have died so far in India due to Covid-19.
