Siliguri, Jul 19 : Two persons were injured when a leopard attacked them near Limbu Bustee tea garden area under Bhakti Nagar police station in Siliguri region today, wildlife officials said.
The two were prowled by the wild beast early in the morning when they went for morning ritual in a nearby bush.
The injured were rushed to the hospital, DFO, Baikantapur, Dharmadeb Rai said.
In another report, about a herd of 15 elephants was roaming at Bhuttabari tea estate creating panic among the villagers in the Dooars.
Jalpaiguri forest division range II, Malbaza, Aloke Bose, said though there had been no report of any man-animal conflict so far, but the local people were feeling insure about the presence of the jumbos, which normally destroy standing and storaged food stock and often kill the people.
