First Gorkhaland Territorial Administration(GTA) areas then Jalpaiguri : Roshan Giri

Kolkata, Aug 03 : Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM) General Secretary Roshan Giri today said reorganisation of Jalpaiguri district by the government should be taken up after the identification of areas under Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA).
Mr Giri made this observation at the state secretariate after the completion of the first all party meeting convened by the Mamata Banerjee government to discuss renaming of the state and reorganisation of the district.
''The government should first identify the areas that will come under the GTA and then decide about reorganisation of Jalpaiguri,'' Mr Giri observed.
He said the GTA and Jalpaiguri were very much 'linked' and hence the areas that would come under the GTA should be resolved first.
Incidentally, the issue of reorganisation of six districts, including Jalpaiguri figured during the all party meet and it would also be discussed at the second round of all party meeting on August 19.
Referring to Darjeeling, Mr Giri said the increase in population in the place and the growing number of tourists also called for bifurcation of the district.
He maintained the GJM would raise the issue of bifurcation of Darjeeling district in the second round of all party meeting on August 19.
