Siliguri, Dec 12 : Thirty-five-year-old Shanti Tudu today braved an attack from two adult leopards before her co-workers forced the wild beasts to leave their prey and retreat into the bushes at a tea garden in the Dooars.
Shanti of Jogesh Chandra tea estate was now fighting for her life at a Malbazar hospital after being attacked by the leopards on her face and body, forest ranger Aloke Kumar Bose of Malbazar forest division said.
The attack on Shanti Tudu came when she along with her co-workers was going towards the garden for plucking tea leaves in the morning.
Mr Bose said the attack from tiger and leopard on human is common in this Dooars, especially in the wintry season.
Mr Bose said the wildlife department has laid traps in the area to catch the leopards before the wild beasts made another attack on people. (UNI)
