Gangtok : Finally, after a long wait of 5 years, the biggest beauty pageant of Sikkim "Miss Sikkim 2012" is back. In a press release by TAAS, formally announced the details of the contest in Gangtok. Ckim travels in the aegis of TAAS will be organizing “Miss Sikkim 2012”. This year the theme of the pageant is ‘Beauty with Compassion and a Mission’. In the upcoming week various rounds of selection procedure will be held. The final event is scheduled on February 24, at Mayfair Spa Resort & Casino.Raj Pradhan, Managing Director Ckim Travels, stated that "the compassion is to encourage people to preserve the rich culture and to spread love and togetherness. The first round will be in traditional attire where the contestants will be dressed in the traditional dress of their choice, followed by swimsuit round and the final round will be evening gown round where final 10 contestant will be questioned and the final three will be selected. The mission of Miss Sikkim Pageant is to help showcase beauty and talents of young women and preserve the coveted title of Miss Sikkim. He further stated that this is also an initiative to recover the losses and boost the tourism industry of Sikkim due to 18th September Earthquake that devastated the economy of Sikkim. The idea was conceived to re activate various tourism stake holders of Sikkim who suffered tremendously due to the earthquake and also to bring in new opportunities to the young generation of Sikkim. Talking about the prize he stated that winner will be taking home 25,000/- 1st runner up 15,000/- and 2nd runner up 10,000/- and lots of surprise gifts for contestant.
