Gangtok, Apr 9 (PTI) The BJP MP from Baroda, Bal Krishna Shukla, in-charge of the party for Sikkim, arrived on a three-day visit here. Speaking to mediapersons here at the Circuit House, he said that although some states did not have elected representatives from BJP, the party still feels it necessary that grievances of people from these places must reach Delhi. "In pursuance of such initiative" he has been deputed to Sikkim and would take up grievances of people of Sikkim and Sikkim-related issues in the Parliament, Shukla said. On the issues which he plans to take up first, he said that the still awaited operations at the Doordarshan Kendra here which was completed eight years ago will be taken up, first with the party high-command and then raised in Parliament. Some developments on the issue can be expected by May 25, he said, adding that if required, he would take a delegation from Sikkim to the Prime Minister. Touching on the urgent need for an airport in Sikkim. he said tourism was growing in Sikkim and carried tremendous potential but uneven road connectivity and service of a lone helicopter were not enough to make the state realise its true potential. "Work on the airport must progress on a war footing," the BJP leader said. PTI COR SUS
