Kalimpong.Mukesh Sharma: When the National Highway (NH) 31A which also connects with the remote areas of Kalimpong is in a worse condition due to mostly due to natural calamities then the alternative Kalimpong, Algarah- Pedong route is used. But this route which fulfils the necessity during the times of need is now in a deteriorating condition. Many areas of this road have sunk during monsoons last year also resulting in pit holes. This has also caused much inconvenience to the people residing in the said areas.
As the number of vehicles plying on the road is increasing, the condition of the road is worsening day by day. This also poses a threat to road mishaps. If this route is not taken care of before this year’s monsoon then it can hamper the road connectivity. The drivers are furious over the Government for the road being unattended.
