GJM Kalimpong Sub division Committee felicitates John Barla “Felicitation a token of appreciation to Gorkha-Adivasi brotherhood”- Barla

Mukesh Sharma: The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) Kalimpong Sub division Committee today organized a felicitation programme at the Ram Krishna Rang Manch (Town hall) under the presidentship of the Kalimpong Municipality President, LB Pariyar during which educationist PR Pradhan was present as the special guest. Senior citizen Uden Pempa Hishey aka Jethi Ama along with Kalimpong MLA cum GJM Spokesperson, Dr Harka Bahadur Chettri, Principals and students of various schools and office bearers of the GJM Central Committee were also present. The newly appointed Councilors of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) were felicitated during the programme.During the programme, the Adivasi leader, John Barla who was also felicitated in his address informed that efforts are being made by him to maintain brotherhood between the Gorkha and the Adivasi community at Terai- Dooars. However, during this process many have tried to defame him by alleging him being sold out to the GJM, he said. “But all I want is harmony between these two communities and want them to develop”, clarified Barla saying that few have been trying to play politics by scheming worthlessly. He also expressed his hope about the Terai- Dooars region to get included in the GTA as demanded by the GJM. Adding to this he said that he has full faith on the GJM.Further, saying that he has been trying hard to keep the communities united, Barla added that soon good days shall arrive. Terai- Dooars shall also have systems and schemes similar to the hills, he claimed. Lastly, he added that he being felicitated is a proud moment for the whole of Terai- Dooars where the Gorkha and the Adivasis reside together. This is a token of appreciation to our brotherhood, he concluded.
