Rambi police impedes large number of contrabands entering Sikkim

Rambi, August 09: The Rambi police today arrested two peddlers with huge amount of contraband substances from an Alto bearing no SK04-P0573 at National Highway 31A at Rambi which was heading towards Sikkim from Siliguri.
The Rambi Thana OC Shiv Sagar Chettri informed that the police acting on the reliable source they conducted a search during which they recovered 720 files of Spasmo Proxyvon and 97 bottles Eskuf cough syrup from the vehicle.
Priya Rai (28) of Ghoom Village at Rangpo along with driver Suresh Rai has been arrested by the police. Accused Rai said that on weekly basis she used to carry the business from a dealer in Siliguri. However, the driver who claimed to be innocent was also recovered with drugs in the bag where vehicle’s documents were placed.
Later both were taken to Kalimpong police station and a case under Act 26 (b) and 18 (c) under Drugs and Cosmetic Act 1940 has been filled against the peddlers. The Kalimpong In-charge, Prasad Pradhan informed that they will be taken to Court on Friday.
