A
CRPF jawan named Shanti Prasad (52) of the 68th Batallion presently
stationed in Kalimpong died today, with doctors at Kalimpong
sub-divisional hospital suspecting high blood pressure or heart attack
to be the cause of death.
According to CRPF sources, Prasad
suffered a head rush while returning from the washroom at the temporary
barracks in Topkhana. He started bleeding both from the nose and mouth
and was rushed to hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead after
conducting preliminary tests.
Prasad, a resident of Gandhinagar in
Gujarat, had arrived in Kalimpong on August 3 from Tinsukhia in Assam.
His battalion has been stationed at the Regulated Market Bhawan in 11th
Mile area.
According to company commandant BK
Biswas, Prasad’s body will be flown to his hometown from Bagdogra on
Thursday. His sudden death has created a stir among his colleagues who
paid their last respects at the temporary barracks. A case of unnatural
death has been registered at the Kalimpong police station.(EOI)
