Kurseong, 17 September: The trend of arresting GJMM activists and its associates is still going on in the Hills. Following the same trend, two persons have been arrested in Mirik today.
It was learnt that a GJMM student leader and General Secretary of the Student Union of Mirik College Mr Bibek Tamang and a GJMM activist Mr Anil Sharma were arrested by Mirik police on different charges.
Notably, members and supporters of different frontal wings of the GJMM have been arrested by the administration for the past one and a half month in the Hills on various cases and charges. sns

Students’ union leader, GJM activist arrested in Mirik
Mirik
College Students’ Union general secretary Vivek Tamang was today
arrested by the Mirik police following a warrant in his name for
involvement in a number of political cases. Along with Tamang, GJM
activist Anil Sharma was also arrested under similar charges.
While the police said they are
investigating the two cases, the situation in Mirik heated up following
the arrests. The Mirik Committee Vidhyarthi Morcha and the Mirik College
Students’ Union organised demonstrations demanding the immediate
release of the duo.(EOI)
