Ghisingh and aides visit Kurseong after two years

Subash Ghising
Kurseong, 6 October
After two years, the Gorkha National Liberation Front, (GNLF), supremo, Mr Subash Ghisingh finally ventured into the Darjeeling Hills and visited various places in the Kurseong sub-division area, yesterday.
Mr Ghisingh along with his associates made his way towards Tindharia via Sukna from Matigara in Siliguri, where he presently resides in a rented apartment.
During his sojourn in Kurseong area, he took stock of the landslide situation of NH-55 in Tindharia and also paid a visit to a GNLF party office in Tindharia.
Later, from Ghayabari, he travelled to the Seti Devi Mandir at Giddha Pahar in Kurseong, where he offered his prayers.
Soon after, he headed towards Rohini, the place he had nurtured personally and visited Jagdambah lake in Rohini.
After spending some time in Rohini, he returned to his Matigara residence in Siliguri.
The GNLF spokesperson, Mr Daya Dewan, said the sudden visit of the party supremo is a personal one but his presence has given a much needed impetus to the morale of GNLF workers in Darjeeling Hills.
He said that after the festivities are over Mr Ghisingh will once again visit Darjeeling to carry on with his political vision.
Notably, for the past few weeks, the media has been talking that Mr Ghisingh will soon return to the
Darjeeling Hills again but this time with a new political strategy and slogan to press its demand which they claim to be better than the GTA. Importantly, since 2011, the once all mighty King of Darjeeling Hills politics is now lying low and living his life in the plains of North Bengal in Matigara near Siliguri.
After being hounded out of the Hills in 2008 by the present dispensation, the GJMM, he was staying in Jalpaiguri.
He last visited Darjeeling for a few days during the State Assembly election in 2011 and since then he has been out of the Hills before today’s sudden tour in the Kurseong region.(SNS)
