Glenburn tea estate | Bail plea of arson accused rejected

The bail plea of the 10 Gorkha Janmukti Morcha activists accused of involvement in a case of arson at Glenburn tea garden on Saturday night was today rejected by a Darjeeling court.
It has been alleged some GJM activists on Saturday night torched the house of Trinamool Congress supporter Rajit Sundas in the Singbung area of Glenburn tea garden under Rangli-Rangliot police station.
Sundas, who recently joined the TMC, filed a complaint with the police naming 29 GJM activists, on the basis of which raids were conducted and 10 GJM cadres arrested on Sunday night.
They were produced today at the Chief Judicial Magistrate court, which rejected their bail plea on the ground that the primary phase of investigation had not been completed. All the 10 accused have been sent to judicial custody and will have to attend court on November 8.
