Husband pushed pregnant wife off the bridge into Teesta river

Sanjay Agarwal,29 Oct, Rangpo : In a bizarre incident which occurred at Rangpo at Majhitar below SMIT, a 27 years old man named Gandep Prasad in pretext of taking for a check up pushed his 27 years old pregnant wife from the middle of the suspension bridge into ravaging river Teesta. The incident occurred around 9 AM yesterday, the culprit after pushing tried to run away but the local nabbed him immediately.
The episode of incident as reported that culprit husband hired a vehicle to Singtam for check up of his wife, as they reach Majhitar at Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology SMIT gate stopped and asked his wife to follow him so that he will show his old job place. Arriving in middle of bridge the culprit husband pushed wife into river. The case is related to South Sikkim at Samadurung which is on other side of the Rangpo separating by river Teesta. The watchers immediately caught hold of the culprit and handed to Police. The body was later recovered 12 Kms downstream of Teesta under Kalimpong jurisdiction.
The family of deceased lady were informed at Baliya in Uttar Pardesh. The cause of double murder is now under investigation by Namchi South District Police.
