Pradip Lohagun: Kalimpong today saw yet another ‘janta’
poster urging the GJM leadership of refraining from including students
in any form of agitation. The poster in the town’s main road addresses
GJM chief Bimal Gurung saying involvement of students in the agitation
is adversely affecting the standards of education in the hills.
The source of the ‘janta’ posters, which
come out every now and then, has not been identified yet by the police
or political parties. The latest poster takes a dig at Gurung and
accuses him of ruining the future of students here.
Janta’ posters in Mirik slam GJM
Mirik residents are now familiar with
the ‘janta’ posters that have been surfacing regularly in town. There
were two such posters on Tuesday and four more surfaced today. Today’s
posters were found at the Krishnanagar and Bazaar areas and slam the GJM
leadership saying, “The leadership who is greedy for the chair is
responsible for the suffering and loss of the public.”
The janta posters condemn GJM leaders
for deserting the public and playing with their sentiments. Without
mentioning the name of the party, the posters say that on the pretext of
a “final struggle” for Gorkhaland, leaders are settling for something
in rank opposition to the people’s aspirations. One of the posters
demands a constitutionally-recognised setup for the Darjeeling hills
till the central government is ready to concede a separate state.(EOI)
