The Siliguri police commissionerate’s
Durga Puja guide map for 2013 has been published. North Bengal
Development minister Gautam Deb launched the map at an event organised
at Air View More.

Jayaraman, deputy police commissioner (HQ) OG Pal, assistant
commissioner (HQ, traffic, East) Biswanath Halder and other officials
were present at the event.
Speaking to the press, Jayaraman said 43
police assistant booths have been set up throughout town to benefit the
people. The guide map provides all the important phone numbers of
police stations and contains the locations and descriptions of important
puja pandals. There is a mention on restricted areas to small and heavy
vehicles in the map.
Jayaraman further said companies of
women police and personnel from the detective department would ensure
security. Besides, police mobile vans, officials in civil dress and
state armed police forces would be deployed at various regions under the
five police stations of town.
Talks have been initiated with several
puja organising committees in order to set up CCTVs at the spots. The
Mahanada Niranjan Ghat would be monitored through cameras and various
awareness related programmes conducted, added the commissioner.(EOI)
