GNLF changes venue for public meet

Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF)
Kurseong, 2 December
The Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) has changed the venue of its proposed public meeting slated for 6 December ~ the party celebrates the day as the Sixth Schedule Day or Accord Day in commemoration of the tripartite agreement being signed in 2005 to include Darjeeling Hills in the special tribal-specific schedule of the Constitution ~ from Monteviot Ground to Rohini ~ both in Kurseong sub-division.
The party spokesperson from Kurseong, Mr Daya Dewan, said they have shifted the venue in view of the non-availability of permission from the administration for the place selected earlier for the meeting. “We would observe the Accord Day near Rohini Lake in the Kurseong sub-division,” he said today.
It is learnt the administration has refused permission in view of Krishi Mela beginning at Monteviot Ground from tomorrow. Mr Dewan also informed that the presence of the party chief Mr Subash Ghising at the meeting is yet to be confirmed.
However, sources said that Mr Ghising will attend the Rohini meeting but to avoid possible trouble from political quarters inimical to the resurgence of the party, things are deliberately being kept away from the public glare.
