Chief minister Mamata Banerjee arrived in Mirik this evening amid tight security. The entire town is teeming with policemen deployed at various vantage points to avoid any untoward incident.
Banerjee is scheduled to attend the Tamang National Convention on Tuesday at the Fulbari playground. Members of the Tamang community had gathered at several places to welcome her. They are expecting the CM to announce a Tamang Development Council during the function.
While the Tamang community is high on its expectations on the formation of a TDC, Banerjee’s visit has boosted tourism in Mirik. The expectations of hotel owners in town are high and they have decided to give the CM a grand welcome.(EOIC)
