Chief minister Pawan Chamling today
distributed several sops to thousands of beneficiaries of the West
District(Sikkim jorethang) at the third phase of the Gram Swaraj Mela 2014 (Janata Mela).
Organised by the Rural Management Development Department, the mela was
held in Pelling Senior Secondary School.
The CM handed over tokens for various
schemes and amenities, including induction stoves, GCI sheets, CMRHM,
solar lights and house up-gradation loans to beneficiaries. He also
granted vehicle loans under the Chief Minister Self-employed Scheme with
financing by SIDICO.
The CM asked all beneficiaries to
collect their tokens without delay from their respective GVK within 15
days of distribution as the upcoming elections could impede the process.
He also assured genuine beneficiaries whose names have not been
included in the list that the matter would be looked into so that no one
is excluded.
Further, Chamling urged the gathering
present to stand beside the SDF while he highlighted various
achievements and development works of his government in its 20 years at
the helm. He reiterated the government’s plan to make Sikkim ‘kaccha
house free’ by 2015 through the Chief Minister’s Rural Housing Mission
scheme.
The CM appealed to vote for the SDF in
the upcoming election and urged the people to stay away from other
political parties, which he claimed were misleading them with false
promises.(EOI)
