Siliguri, 6 February: The 58 Gorkha Training Centre, Shillong, beat Tindharia Sports Association 2-0 in the second round of the 9th Sukuna Gold Cup Football Tournament at the Sukna High School Ground in Sukna near Siliguri today.
The Shillong team asserted itself right from the start with a goal in the 31st minute by Nel Magar. Tindharia goalkeeper Pankaj Sharma stumbled trying to punch a shot out, and the ball fell to Magar, who side-footed it in.
Thereafter, the Gorkha outfit dominated the proceedings and increased the tally in the 68th minute. Vikram Adhikari collected a deflection, which came off the Tindharia goalkeeper on an attempted cross-centre from a GTC forward and finished with a neat right-footer. Vikram was adjudged Man of the Match. United Kurseong Football Club will lock horns with Kanchenjungha Football Club, Siliguri, at the same venue tomorrow.(SNS)
