The state topper in this year’s ISC
exams with a very impressive 94.5 per cent is Bishan Raj Rai (Science
stream) of Don Bosco School, Malbasey.
Seventeen-year-old Bishan hails from Rinchenpong in West Sikkim.
He scored 96 per cent in Nepali, 95 per
cent in English, 95 per cent in Math, 92 per cent in Biology, 88 per
cent in Chemistry and 86 per cent in Physics.
When this correspondent met Bishan for a
shot interaction, he said he had studied seriously for six to seven
hours on a daily basis during the winter coaching camp held at his
school.
“I am extremely happy and if I get a
place in one of the best colleges through the CET, I will grab the
opportunity or else I will take a year’s break and go for IIT coaching,”
he said.
Don Bosco School principal Fr Noby
George remarked, “We are extremely happy and proud as we have been
trying to excel since the past several years. It is indeed a big
achievement for us as our school is the only ISC offering institute
located in a rural area and this fact will definitely boost the morale
of other schools in such areas. We wish the very best to Bishan for his
future endeavours as he has always been a gem of our school.”
