Himali Boarding School in Kurseong, one of the top schools in the whole
of India, has managed to secure 100 percent success in this year’s
Indian School Certificate (ISC) exams.
All the 194 ISC candidates in the co-education school came out with flying colours in this year’s exams, with five of them securing above 90 percent marks on an average.Expressing happiness and pride at the excellent results, Director of the school, Rabindra Subba, today said that despite the heavy odds this time around, all his students were successful in the class XII board exams.
“While the exam pattern was different and difficult and the 40-day strike during the Gorkhaland agitation (in Darjeeling Hills) weighed heavy against the school and our students, the 194 students came out with flying colours,”said Mr Subba.
According to him, the hard work the teachers and the students put in paid off. He recalled how they had to take extra classes and hold classes on Saturdays too to make up for the days they lost during the Gorkhaland agitation last year.
Mr Subba further said his school plans to bear the college fees for two of the ISC students of his school who scored above 90 in the exams this year.
According to him, the families of the two local students -- Rhea Pradhan and Abhisekh Chhetri – are not financially sound.
Mr Subba further expressed hope that his students who have appeared for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) exams will also fare very well this year.
This year’s ICSE results are expected to be out on Wednesday.(SNS)
