Darjeeling Lok Sabha independent
candidate Mahendra P Lama has said GJM chief Bimal Gurung is yet to come
up with any constructive development policy to leverage the Gorkhaland
Territorial Administration of which he is the chief executive.
Lama, founder of the apolitical
Darjeeling-Dooars United Development Foundation, made the comment this
morning while visiting the currently closed Red Bank tea estate in
Banarhat.
Speaking on issues related to the
development of hill residents, Lama said the GTA has taken no initiative
to revive the closed and ‘sick’ tea estates across the hills and the
Dooars. In his words, GTA is functioning under a “zero policy” and
making no effort towards development.
Lama said the DDUDF’s objective is to
prioritise the socio-economic enhancement of tea workers of the region.
The DDUDF chairman discussed several vital issues with workers while
making his rounds across the estate.(EOIC)
